Whiskeytown Lake’s crystal-clear water is perhaps the most recognized  feature of the park. However, water-based recreation is only a part of  what the 42,000-acre Whiskeytown National Recreation Area has to offer.  Visit waterfalls, hike through rugged mountains, explore California Gold  Rush history, and observe post-fire ecology in action.

CRYSTAL CREEK FALLS

Crystal Creek Falls is one of many awesome waterfalls in the Whiskeytown National Recreational Area.

Hands down the easiest to reach and one of the most enjoyable to watch,  this series of two falls belongs on any waterfall checklist. It is  literally a short walk down a nice paved service road!

Wilcox Oaks Golf Club

As a Golf Club founded in the ’20s, one of the area’s premiere golf facilities, Wilcox Oaks is a stunning course.
Located  just north of Red Bluff, come visit and play the amazing links. They  are at 20995 Wilcox Golf Club Road.

Be sure to fill your tank and  stomach, it is a very long path to travel and will be the longest 130  miles you will likely ever travel.  36 west is a favorite motorcycle  route with those many curves, hairpins and the such. This makes 36W a  poor choice for RV's and trailers.  A better path to the coast for  larger vehicles is available to the North on CA-299 west of Redding. If  you are using a motorcycle or a car with appropriate sport suspension,  and you have the time, CA-36 west can be a pretty exhilarating way to  get to US-101 and the coast.
